As part of a live brief set by the client Derby Museums, they wanted us to come up with a fun and interactive design, which would help to promote the ceramics cafe which is home to Royal Crown Derby porcelain. Having taken inspiration from the porcelain within the cafe, the cup pattern was hand drawn, overlapping the patterns of several different pieces together. I have tried to create a very contemporary cup design, which encourages people to interact with the cup. When a customer buys a drink, once the drink is consumed they can then remove the coloured sleeve, and using the colouring pens and felt tips provided colour in their own cup design. Once coloured then place the sleeve back on the cup and take a picture uploading it to twitter using the hashtag #ceramicscafe to enter the weekly competition being run by the museum.
