As part of the collaborative module ‘Introduction to Visual Communication’, my team created a magazine called ‘Insight’. Great architecture evokes different emotions for different people. For some, a structure can inspire, but for others, prove meaningless. The same space can bring comfort to one individual, but for another generate a sense of insecurity. Within the magazine we explored some of the most interesting architecture in Birmingham; old, new, traditional and contemporary together with how those structures have brought about a diverse range of reactions from people who live in and around Birmingham. Our aim was to give a deeper insight into this emotionally and powerful architecture as well as to encourage the audience to take more than a passing glance the next time they hurry past these structures.
